Media
online today practice the use of web-screen media, which is far different from
the traditional “print media” (Straubhaar, Larose & Davenport 2012).
Web-screen media and print media are important elements publishers use to send
messages to the target readers. Both these methods contain a mixture of the
usage of pictures, colours, words, and many more. However, they are different.
Designing hardcopy print media and online web-based media differ in many ways.
Both these methods differ in terms of costs, target readers, richness of
contexts, etc.
Web-screen
media eases readers to access these media resources in terms of time, finance,
and also convenience. Media sources posted online are accessible not only
through computers, but also iPads, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, smart phones, etc.
These devices are accessible to readers everywhere with extreme mobility
convenience. Readers can scroll, enlarge and save pages easily using the finger
tap function.
Furthermore,
web-screen media allows for many applications and information such as phone
navigation features, games, and many more. The picture below illustrates the
convenience and attractiveness of web media sources.
On the
other hand, the traditional print media contains minimal visual orientations,
with a large proportion of the media framework filled with texts. The print
media portrays a boring impression to readers, explained by the decreasing trend
of print media usage as compared to web media sources. Print medias are very
much manual, where consumers are required to search manually for the relevant
news/source in the print document.
